What is Zoroastrianism?
Although it is impossible for me to give you a complete description, I can give you a short rundown. This is an ancient Persian religion beginning anywhere from 8,000-1200 B.C. in Persia. Created by the prophet Zoroaster, this is the first monotheistic (believing in one god) religion in the world. Most of ancient Persia before the invasion of Islam was Zoroastrian. However, after the invasion of the Arabs, most Persians were forcibly converted to Islam. The Zoroastrians remaining had to pay heavy taxes, and eventually a large number of them immigrated to the western shores of India. Today, those Zoroastrians in India are called Parsi's, after the province of Pars in Persia. They number at approximately 110,000. The remaining Zoroastrians reside in either Iran or around the world.

What do Zoroastrians Believe?
Zoroastrians believe in one god, Ahura Mazda, who is the spirit of good. It is constantly in battle with the spirit of evil, Angra Mainyu. For more information, visit
